U’lia Hargrove, a N.C. A&T college student, labored closely with the Urban Outfitters to make a six-piece HBCU assortment.

GREENSBORO – International life-style retailer Urban Outfitters (UO) released a historically Black college and university (HBCU) specific capsule selection this 7 days, with styles designed with summer interns from chosen HBCUs which includes North Carolina Agricultural and Specialized Condition University. 

From notion to development, college students labored with the UO shopping for crew to style and design a 24-piece apparel and life style selection celebrating the lifestyle and neighborhood of their respective schools known as the UO Summer Class ’21 Assortment, the initially of its kind. 

“Being able to share our means with HBCU talent, and to get the job done along with these pupils creatively as they designed their own product, manufactured Summer season Class enriching not only for our learners, but for each individual UO worker who acquired to be a portion of the program,” says Dalila Shannon, UO women’s divisional merchandising manager and Summer season Class mentor. 

U’lia Hargrove, a trend merchandising and style and design and supply chain administration pupil, labored closely with the UO women’s sweater crew as a getting intern.  

“It was my very first time in a major town like Philadelphia,” stated the Henderson, North Carolina, native. “We obtained to take part in photoshoots, meet the CEO and design each individual part of the selection for our HBCU. I’m enthusiastic to have the opportunity to operate with Urban Outfitters to educate their purchaser foundation and provide light to our faculties.” 

The apparel involves Winner sweats and extensive-sleeve shirts that includes first graphics by learners. For N.C. A&T, there are six items including a premium letterman jacket generated by Ebbets Field Flannel representing the students’ interpretations of the collegiate staple. 

Elizabeth Newcomb Hopfer, Ph.D., associate professor of manner merchandising and layout, is honored that a person of her college students was selected to take part in the UO Summer months Course 2021.  

“This encounter will allow for her to glow in the brighter, more inclusive manner marketplace of the future while providing her and other Summer months Course members the prospect to rejoice the historic achievements of N.C. A&T and other HBCUs,” she stated. 

The selection, formally licensed by CLC, will be offered for purchase completely at urbanoutfitters.com and involve a charitable donation to the students’ respective alma maters. 

The collection also contains types for Clark Atlanta College by CAU pupils Dacia Redmond, Jalen Bradford and Jasmine Logan, and for Howard University by Howard pupil Janae Claxton.
