As the 76th Cannes Film Festival heats up, some of the world’s biggest stars are hitting the red carpet for the premieres of the festival’s buzziest films.

“Jeanne du Barry” opened the festival on May 16, which follows a young working class woman’s relationship with King Louis XV (Johnny Depp). The film has received criticism for opening the festival, as it marks Depp’s comeback to cinema after he won a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Director and co-star Maïwenn has also been the focus of controversy, as she admitted to spitting on a French journalist in February. Depp and Maïwenn were on hand for the premiere of the film, and other stars including Uma Thurman, Helen Mirren, Elle Fanning and John C. Reilly also stepped out in their best looks.

Hirokazu Kore-Eda’s “Monster” had its premiere on May 17, which Viola Davis, Ethan Hawke and Gemma Chan attended, among others. “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” starring Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Sean Penn’s “Black Flies” both screened on May 18. Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett and Jeremy O. Harris attended the “Zone of Interest” premiere on May 19.

The festival was abuzz for the premiere of Martin Scorsese’s newest film, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” on May 20. Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Kirsten Dunst, Tobey Maguire, Salma Hayek and Sofia Carson all arrived in style for the screening. May 21 was the premiere screening of Jude Law and Alicia Vikander’s historical drama “Firebrand,” which also brought Michelle Yeoh, Naomi Campbell and Marion Cotillard to the red carpet.

Sam Levinson’s new HBO show, “The Idol,” held its premiere on May 22. Along with Levinson, stars The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp attended as well as rapper Travis Scott. May 23 saw the premiere of Wes Anderson’s newest film, “Asteroid City,” starring Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell and more.
